In Situ Cryo Electron Tomography (cryoET) of Malaria Parasites: Image Processing

The Ho Lab, in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at Columbia University, is seeking a talented and motivated undergraduate researcher to join us in using in situ cryo electron tomography (cryoET) to explore how membrane protein complexes mediate host-pathogen interactions in the malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum. Projects will be focused on using cryo focused ion beam scanning electron microscopy (cryoFIB/SEM) and cryoET to directly visualize the host-pathogen interface in parasite-infected human red blood cells. We are looking for an innovative, resourceful and resilient student who enjoys learning new things and is interested in biomedical imaging and analysis, particularly of 3D tomographic images of the host-pathogen interface in parasite-infected human red blood cells.
