Students will culture and maintain organotypic brain slice cultures and then apply a mechanical stimulus to simulate a brain injury. The project is focused on quantifying the changes in neuronal network function due to the injury, exploring molecular mechanisms responsible for those changes, and testing new treatments to ameliorate post-traumatic changes.
