Insulation In Driven Crystals

We are sorry, this position has been filled.

A conducting crystal is being shone with a laser beam. Does the crystal become insulating? This question has far-reaching consequences in both optics and quantum physics. The project will attempt to answer this question via a numerical study of effective ordinary differential equations (ODE) and if time permits, through the numerical study of the underlying Schrodinger equation and/or the analytic study of these ODEs.
