Finite Element Models of Pregnancy

Working with a Mechanical Engineering graduate student, the student will build and analyze finite element models of pregnancy. The student will learn segmentation techniques to derive CAD models of the pregnant abdomen from MRI 2D image stacks. Using these computer models, the student will construct finite element models to determine the distribution of mechanical loading on the soft tissues that support and protect the fetus.
