Effects of network disruption within the hippocampal CA1 pyramidal neurons due to blast induced traumatic brain injury

Previous in vitro experiments in which hippocampal slices are exposed to blasts have shown deficits in hippocampal network activity. Recently, evidence has emerged that suggests an increase in the speed of propagation of an evoked signal along the CA1 pyramidal neurons of the hippocampus as a result of blast injury. Utilizing existing electrophysiological data sets and various drugs, we wish to interrogate this potential effect to discover its underlying mechanisms.
